Tree and palm removal

Tree and Palm Removal

There are many reasons as to why trees and palms require removal. Perhaps the five most common are:

  • Dying, Diseased, Structural Failure
  • Potential Damage to Structures
  • Construction Renovations
  • Storm Damage
  • Liability Issues & Maintenance

Tree and palm pruning

Tree Pruning

Pruning back trees is performed for a variety of reasons.

  • to remove diseased or storm-damaged branches
  • to thin the crown to permit new growth and better air circulation
  • to reduce the height of a tree
  • to remove obstructing lower branches
  • to remove limbs overhanging roofs, gutters and fences.

Once the decision has been made to prune or remove the tree, your next decision is whether or not to tackle the job yourself, if you do decide to do it yourself Custom Tree Services offers a wood chipping service, where we come in and chip everything you have pruned leaving you with good quality mulch for your gardens or the woodchip can be taken away.

Pruning and felling of trees can be dangerous work. If the job involves working on large trees the knowledge and use of specialized equipment is very important, not only for the safety of the person(s) pruning/removing the tree but also for the surrounding property where the tree stands; homes, businesses, cars, and pedestrians can be put at serious and unnecessary risks.

Other considerations need to be taken into account when working on trees that are next-to or near-by electrical power lines or have electrical lines running through their branches.

If you think the job is a little too big for you then please don't hesitate to call us.

Wood chipping

Wood Chipping

Custom Tree Services offers a wood chipping service that will come to your property and turn your pruning's into woodchip/mulch that can be used on your gardens or taken away.

Wood chipping is a very cost effective way of recycling your pile of brush into mulch, saving you money on Council tip fees, time and the cost of buying mulch from a nursery.

Please note: We can't chip palms or deadwood

Stump Grinding

A stump grinder is a piece of equipment that removes the tree or palm stump by means of a rotating cutting disk that chips away the wood.

Stump grinders can be the size of a lawn mower or as large as truck. Most accomplish their task by means of a high-speed disk with teeth that grind the stump and roots into small chips.

We have 2 different size stump grinders one for tight access and the other for larger stumps, not all stumps can be ground due to factors such as: underground services, proximity to other structures, foreign objects in the stump i.e. rocks, bolts, metal etc.

Service line trims

Service Line Trims

Trees on your property must be kept clear of powerlines.

  • You are responsible for the cutting of trees on your property that may interfere with your own electric service line or private electric line, or a private electric line on an adjoining property
  • Trees near other electric lines that cross your boundary or trees within your property near the electric lines in the street are the responsibility of the Electricity Distribution Company
  • For safety reasons it is recommended that cutting of trees be done before trees grow to within 1 metre of an insulated electric service line and 2 metres of a bare wire electric service line
  • If the trees are closer to these electric lines than the clearances above, or where cutting may cause branches to fall onto electric lines, do not cut them yourself as this may pose a risk to both yourself and your property

Mulch

Mulch Sales

Custom Tree Services can also deliver woodchip/mulch. Woodchip/mulch creates a great growing environment for your trees/shrubs and flowers by:

  • Retaining moisture in the soil by reducing evaporation
  • Suppresses weeds, which in turn reduces the loss of water and nutrients in the ground
  • Makes the garden look neat and tidy
  • Aerates the soil by reducing compaction and promotes worms

Mulch is delivered by TRUCK LOAD – approximately 6 cubic metres which equates to around 3 - 4 trailer loads. As the mulch is made up of trees in your area, we cannot guarantee a precise date for when the mulch will be delivered to you. Your details will be put on our waiting list and the orders will be honoured on a first in first served basis.

We will work with you to attempt to deliver the mulch directly to where it's needed. There will be times however that our delivery truck will not be able to enter or access certain sites. In these situations we will deliver the mulch to the most suitable site for you.

We do charge a delivery fee depending on your location.
